The festival in 2025 commemorates two significant milestones in Singapore’s history: the 25th Anniversary of Singapore Management University and the nation’s 60th birthday. The theme, 2560, carries deep symbolism —“25” celebrates SMU’s remarkable 25-year journey, reflecting the university’s youthful spirit and its aspirations for the future. “60” honours Singapore’s resilience, growth, and identity as a vibrant global city. Together, the theme bridges tradition and innovation, connecting past achievements with future aspirations. The festival also marks an unprecedented historic moment when all eight Singapore universities --NUS, NTU, SIM, SIT, SMU, SUTD, SUSS, and UAS collaborated, united by creativity, to share one stage, powerfully expresses solidarity and inclusivity through the arts. - SMU President Lily Kong gave her third annual President’s State of the University Address in a hybrid event on 24 September 2021, with around 50 members of faculty and staff joining her at SMU Hall and some 650 participating online

- Professor Venky Shankararaman from the School of Information Systems (Right) received the inaugural SMU-X Excellent Teacher Award from SMU Provost Professor Lily Kong (Left) at the 2018 State of University Address. The award recognizes faculty who are dedicated to teaching SMU-X courses and collaborating with partners from the private, public, or social sectors to integrate experiential activities where students address real-world issues impacting communities and organizations. Prof Shankararaman, along with Prof Gary Pan from the School of Accountancy, bridges accounting and information systems in the SMU-X Accounting Analytics Capstone, preparing students for future changes in the work landscape. Prof Shankararaman was also acknowledged for assuming the roles of facilitator, negotiator to bolster students' confidence and support their learning in interacting with the real-world.

This landmark contribution reinforces the University’s commitment to enabling students with financial needs to broaden their worldview and deepen their global perspectives, and equipping them to thrive in an interconnected world. The opportunity will also expand their network and may open doors to new possibilities that will uplift their aspirations, future careers and families.
