        The EDB Society and SMU hosted the fourth part of the six-part Enterprise & Entrepreneur Series – Transforming Industries Creating Value. Panelist include Ms Janice Chia, Founder & Managing Director, Ageing Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore; Ms Ivy Lai, Country Manager Philips Singapore and CFO Philips ASEAN Pacific; Mr Ong Chu Poh, Founder, Executive Chairman, and CEO of ECON Healthcare Group; Prof Tan Chorh Chuan, Chief Health Scientist and Executive Director of the new Office for Healthcare Transformation, Ministry of Health; and Mary Ann Tsao, Chairman and Founding Director of the Tsao Foundation.

                            More than forty participants comprising entrepreneurs, members of the business community, educators and SMU alumni gathered in the second instalment of the International Speaker Series Dialogue hosted by SMU on 28 February 2018 in Delhi, India, The topic of “The Purposeful Entrepreneur” was tackled where participants listened to entrepreneur Mr Alan Rosling; Mr Sunil Puri, Asia-Pacific Director – Research, innovation & Product Development at Centre for Creative Leadership; Dr. Ritesh Malik, CEO of Innov8.Work; and Dr Flocy Joseph. The dialogue series was launched by the postgraduate career services team of the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC). It aims to provide a platform for greater business-academic interactions and experience-sharing across geographies.

                              In February 2018, the inaugural International Speaker Series Dialogue took place in Mumbai, India, drawing over fifty participants, including entrepreneurs, business community members, government officials, and SMU alumni. Hosted by the postgraduate career services team of the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC), the session was themed "Winning the War for Talent." It focused on how corporations and start-ups can attract the right talent to achieve their business goals and enhance their appeal to high-potential individuals.

                                      Career consultation for alumni
                                      Ms. Prasanthi Guda (Right), Head of Undergraduate Careers at the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC), is seen providing a one-on-one career consultation to an alumnus. In 2018, the Centre extended its support services to alumni for three years post-graduation. This was later enhanced to lifelong support in May 2005.

                                                Chua Ek Kay Exhibition: A long way from home 2018 in the School of Social Sciences
                                                Associate Professor of Arts and Culture Management (Practice) Kwok Kian Chow and curator Wang Zineng at the Chua Ek Kay Exhibition: A long way from home on 19 Oct 2018. ‘A Long Way from Home’, featuring works from Singapore artist Chua Ek Kay (1947-2008) opened at the De Suantio Gallery, School of Social Sciences at SMU. It is curated by Wang Zineng together with the students in the SMU-X Arts and Culture Management course on Exhibition and Curating, led by Associate Professor Kwok Kian Chow.

Supported by Prudential, the Makerspace serves as a collaborative environment for students and the SMU community to create, learn, explore, share, and generate new ideas. Workshops and activites were organized for the community to learn how to use the 3D printing machines and various tools available in the Makerspace.
