                      SMU partners with Ascott Limited to launch lyf@SMU in 2017. Located within the SMU Labs, it provides SMU copmmunity with a 24/7 dynamic and trend-setting co-study, co-work, co-living environment that also serves as a ‘living lab’ where applied research simultaneously takes place.


                        The de Suantio Gallery is one of the facilities in SMU that encourage student creativity and vibrancy
                        In November 2012, the de Suantio Gallery was named after the Suantio family in recognition of a $2.777 million generous donations by Dr Della Suantio Lee and D.S. Lee Foundation. It is a 180 square metre space located on Level 1 of the School of Economics and School of Social Sciences building. Its first exhibition featured the work series "Bits of Me - Portraits" of reowned Indonesian photographer Indra Leonardi, exposing students to his craft and sensitivity to his sitters. The naming ceremony was graced by Singapore President Tony Tan Keng Yam and Mrs Mary Tan, and attended by some 60 guests, including Dr Della Suantio Lee and her husband, Dr Lee Seng Gee.


                          SMU wins prestigious THE Awards Asia 2025 – Teaching & Learning Strategy of the Year
                          SMU's Vice President (Partnerships & Engagement) Prof Lim Sun Sun receiving the prestigious award on behalf of the University. Singapore Management University (SMU) is proud to announce that it has been named Winner in the ‘Teaching and Learning Strategy of the Year’ category at the prestigious Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia 2025. The accolade was awarded in recognition of SMU-X, the University’s flagship industry project-based experiential learning framework that integrates academic knowledge with real-world industry projects. It marks a significant milestone for SMU-X, pioneered 10 years ago as a differentiating pedagogy, underscoring the University’s longstanding commitment to redefining learning through interdisciplinary, collaborative, and experiential approaches.

With its second edition, SMU-X joined forces with CUHK Business School to expand this global dialogue, reaffirming its commitment to advancing experiential education through interdisciplinary partnerships.

                                Career consultation for alumni
                                Ms. Prasanthi Guda (Right), Head of Undergraduate Careers at the Dato' Kho Hui Meng Career Centre (DKHMCC), is seen providing a one-on-one career consultation to an alumnus. In 2018, the Centre extended its support services to alumni for three years post-graduation. This was later enhanced to lifelong support in May 2005.

                                  After conducting virtual editions of the Study Abroad Fair (SAF) in 2021 and 2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, GEO ran the first ever hybrid SAF in 2023. Over a thousand students thronged the in-person Fair at SMU Concourse and seized the chance to engage with representatives from 22 partner universities and 53 exchange students from various continents, gaining valuable insights into what to expect from an exchange or global exposure programme at different universities.

                                    The Centre of Global Education and Opportunities (GEO) hosted its first hybrid Study Abroad Fair (SAF) in 2023, as in-person overseas immersion opportunities resumed after the Covid-19 pandemic. The in-person SAF was held in SMU Concourse and was abuzz with excitement as students explore the University's diverse Study Abroad programmes, destinations, and partner universities, including the popular International Student Exchange Programme (ISEP).                                         SMU undergraduates build sustainability competencies through urban farming in sustainability law elective course
                                        Assoc Prof Liu Nengye (standing), with students from the 'Introduction to Sustainability Law' elective. The course was co-convened by Yong Pung How School of Law’s Associate Professors Michelle Lim and Liu Nengye, and taught in partnership with SMU’s Office of Campus Infrastructure and Services (OCIS). The aim was to build students’ nature connectedness and sustainability competencies.

                                              The Singapore Management University (SMU) announced on 29 March 2011, the naming of its auditorium as the Mochtar Riady Auditorium and the establishment of the new Mochtar Riady Scholarships. Dr Stephen Riady, President of the Lippo Group presenting the $5m cheque with S. Iswaran, Senior Minister of State for Education and Trade & Industry, Arnoud De Meyer, SMU President.

                                                  TCS-SMU iCIty-Lab inauguration on 5 August 2011
                                                  Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a leading IT services, business solutions and consulting firm, and the Singapore Management University (SMU) announced on 5 August 2011 the establishment of the TCS-SMU iCity Lab to be located at SMU. The collaboration agreement signed today states the two organizations are partnering to create a new research facility to develop industry standards and IT frameworks for the emerging intelligent city (“iCity”) model of urban development.
