Vibrant interactions between students and industry representatives at the February 2017 Career Fair held in concourse T-junction

This image from the 2017 SMU Career Fair captures a formative chapter in the Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Career Centre’s (DKHMCC) evolving journey of employer engagement. Held at the concourse T‑junction—then the University’s primary and most recognisable career fair venue—the space served as a vibrant crossroads where students and employers converged for meaningful conversations about careers, internships and possibilities. For many years, the T‑junction stood as the backdrop to countless first introductions, exchanges of resumes, and career aspirations taking shape.

As student participation and employer interest grew, the Career Fair expanded beyond the concourse to the Sports Hall, marking a period of transition and increasing ambition. Even within these interim spaces, the spirit of the fair remained unchanged: close, purposeful interactions anchored in DKHMCC’s commitment to connecting students with industry. Today, with the SMU Career Fair firmly established in the SMU Hall, the journey comes full circle—a reflection of how the fair has grown in scale and stature, while remaining rooted in its original mission. Looking back across these spaces, each venue tells a story of progress, adaptability and an enduring dedication to supporting SMU students at every stage of their career journey.
