Prospective students experiencing SMU’s hallmark seminar pedagogy at the 2026 Early Admissions Discovery Day

During a breakout session hosted by the SMU School of Social Sciences at the 2026 Early Admissions Discovery Day, Professor Steven Burik introduced prospective students to the diverse programmes, interdisciplinary learning opportunities, and distinctive educational experience offered by the school. Held in a seminar room at the Yong Pung How School of Law, the session provided students with a first-hand glimpse into SMU’s hallmark seminar-style pedagogy. The intimate classroom setting reflected the University’s emphasis on active participation, close faculty-student interaction, and discussion-based learning, allowing attendees to experience the engaging and personalized learning environment that characterises an SMU education.
