Friendly rivalry and school spirit took centre stage at the Inter-Faculty Games during SMU Patron’s Day 2026, as students from all seven SMU schools competed in a series of spirited contests at Campus Green. Among the day’s most anticipated events was the Tug-of-War competition, which returned as a crowd favourite and drew enthusiastic support from students, staff, alumni, and guests. The introduction of a cheerleading segment further energized the competition, adding colour and excitement to the festivities.
After several closely contested rounds, the School of Economics (SOE) emerged as champions of the Tug-of-War. The victory reflected the team’s determination, resilience, and strong sense of school pride. The achievement was made especially memorable for the students with the presence of distinguished guests, including Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, who joined the SMU community in celebrating the occasion.
