On 18th November 2025, the Singapore Open Legal Informatics Database (SOLID) was officially launched at Singapore Management University’s (SMU) Yong Pung How School of Law (YPHSL). Supported by the Ministry of Law (MinLaw) and housed within SMU’s Centre for Digital Law (CDL), the three-year initiative aims to develop Singapore’s first open empirical legal database. The project will compile and release machine-readable datasets containing key statistical information on Singapore court decisions, statutes, legal scholarship, and court structures, providing structured and research-ready data to support empirical legal research and technological innovation.

The launch event featured roundtable discussions involving local stakeholders and international experts on the priorities and future applications of legal data. The SOLID database will be made freely accessible through a public website and Application Programming Interface (API), contributing to the development of Singapore’s legal data infrastructure and supporting research and innovation within the legal sector.
