Financial Education Programme

The talk is part of a financial education programme, supplementary to the SMU core curriculum, which provides practical lessons in finance, banking and economics.

Groundbreaking for the Evans Road Building
- Singapore Management University Chairman Ho Kwon Ping and President Janice Bellace don yellow boots and hard hats for the first foundation pile for the Evans Road building on 12 January 2000. Located adjacent to the Bukit Timah campus, SMU operated out of the Evans Road building for the first academic year. This date also marks the incorporation of SMU and it is celebrated each year as Patron’s Day.

Agreement with Ritsumeikan University
- On the first day of classes, Singapore Management University launched its international exchange programme for students by signing a memorandum of understanding with Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University from Oita Prefecture, Japan. This is the first of many agreements with overseas institutions to increase the global perspective and cultural experiences of SMU undergraduates. Photo taken on 1 August 2000.
