Dr Janil Puthucheary, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Education and Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, graced the launch of the Resilient Workforces Institute (ResWORK) in Singapore Management University as Guest-of-Honour. In his remarks, Dr Janil highlighted the importance of partnerships with industry, enabled by research, in overcoming workforce disruptions brought about by artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technologies.

            Inaugural Convocation
            View of the audience and stage at the inaugural convocation ceremony marking the opening of Singapore Management University and the beginning of the academic year. Over 1,200 guests, 35 faculty and 306 students attended. Education Minister Teo Chee Hean was guest of honour. Ceremonies were held on 29 July 2000 at Bras Basah Park, the site of the Singapore Management University’s future city campus.

                  Wharton-SMU Research Centre Agreement
                  Signing ceremony held on 10 June 1999 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel to establish the Wharton-Singapore Management University Research Centre. Left to right: SMU Chairman Ho Kwon Ping, Deputy Prime Minister Tony Tan, Minister for Education Teo Chee Hean and SMU President-Designate Janice Bellace. The joint research centre will focus on international business issues relevant to Singapore and Asia, and help establish a research culture at SMU.                     Wharton-SMU Research Centre Agreement
