SMU Ambassadorial Corps in a nutshell
Established in August 2003, the SMU Ambassadorial Corps (ASMU) provides outstanding undergraduates with a platform to develop and demonstrate their capabilities as ambassadors and external relations representatives of the University. As Student Ambassadors, members are often the first point of contact for visiting guests, including foreign VIP delegations, as well as prospective students and their families. They also represent SMU at major institutional occasions such as Patron’s Day and the Arts Festival. Guided by ASMU’s core values, ambassadors play a pivotal role in shaping visitors’ impressions of the University and reinforcing its brand. This is achieved through the careful planning and coordination of well-executed campus tours, gracious hosting of external guests and dignitaries, and active support of events that present SMU to local and international audiences. Through these responsibilities, ambassadors gain meaningful, hands-on experience that strengthens their relationship management, communication, and logistical coordination skills. In this video, Mr Aamod Mehrish, Ms Shana Chia, and Mr Nigel Siew share their experiences as Student Ambassadors and reflect on how the role has contributed to their personal growth and development.
