Entrepreneurship insights shared at 2026 SMU Open House panel discussion
- A panel discussion organised by the SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IIE) during SMU Open House 2026, held at the Jay & Marilyn Ng Greenhouse in SMU Connexion. The session, titled “What Most Students Realise Too Late: How to Get Startup Exposure Early at SMU,” explored opportunities for students to explore entrepreneurship and the startup ecosystem during their university journey. President Tharman, SMU leaders and distinguised guests with student performers at the 2026 Patron's Day Dinner
- As part of the evening celebrations for SMU Patron’s Day 2026 on 30 January 2026, a dinner was held at SMU Hall in the Yong Pung How School of Law. The event brought together university leaders, partners, alumni, and student representatives for an evening of reflection, recognition, and community. In his welcome address, SMU Chairman Mr Piyush Gupta spoke about the importance of a broad-based education in a changing world and shared how SMU is sharpening its focus on delivering impact through education and research. SMU President Professor Lily Kong followed by reaffirming the University’s commitment to nurturing graduates who are agile, adaptive and purpose driven. The programme also featured video presentations showcasing the impact stories of alumni, including community cohesion coordinator in the UK Shereen Aziz-Williams and Paralympian and multiple medallist Yip Pin Xiu, alongside performances by student groups SMU VOIX, SMU INDANCITY, and SMU Eurhythmix.
